It’s already amazing being a Photographer in Amsterdam, but be chosen as a proposal and engagement photographer to register unique moments is even SURREAL!
What are you looking for when you decide to hide a professional photographer in Amsterdam and what do you expect to see in the pictures?
Photography for me is about real emotions, telling stories, making you remember unique and beautiful meaningful moments and connections.
That’s why, when I remember Omar and Jasmine’s story/photoshoot my heart explodes of happiness and love.
Everything started when Omar contacted me about a possible proposal session for the moment that he will propose the love of his life: Jasmine.
Omar and I had talked a lot about how it could be the session and I advised him about some nice spots.
Since one of Jasmine’s passion is windmills, and see one in person, one of her dreams, we planned to make a lovely session in the cutest Windmills Village named Zaanse Schanz but the only thing that Jasmine would know it is: Omar hired me to make a usual couple photoshoot of them, something that both never had done before.
The shining in Jasmine’s eyes when Arriving in Zaanse Schans was priceless, even with the windmills far from us she was super excited. We made some shoots for at least 15 minutes until we arrived at the perfect spot.
Oh, that’s important to remember: I always show photos of the possible proposal spots before for who are hiring me, and after the person chooses we create a code to let the person know that we are ON THE PLACE.
“In my opinion, this is the most beautiful windmill, don’t you agree Jasmine?” Here we go, Jasmine looked in the direction of the windmill and when she turned back there was Omar on his knees with the ring proposed to her.
By the way, the ring has an amazing story behind it but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share it. I can resume it in a title: adventures time ring! For now, let’s back to the most expected time of the photoshoot.
Jasmine was SO SURPRISED and happy that she became speechless, the only thing that was explicit was the big smile on her face. Of course, she said YESSS, but she needed a bit of time to process everything that was going on. She couldn’t stop smiling and ask “is this real?”.
We continued the shooting, in the traditional Dutch Village, but now as an engagement session.
Remembering that these shots are not about “the ring”, but a capture of the new step in both lives, all the feelings, laughs, and love between them.
The love and connection of both were there, the windmills and the ring were there… Can I say that I felt like a Godmother doing these photos?
PS: I don’t sell photoshoots, but experiences where you will have a damn lot of fun, and after some years the photos will be there to remember you what an amazing time, what an amazing moment, and what an amazing choice both made to be together for the rest of their lives.
